Photon is a Smart Home switch. Since it controls light bulbs, it is named after the particle of light. It is my first IOT device.
Following are it's features:
- It is connected to wifi and mqtt broker in our lan. So, can be controlled from anywhere inside home.
- Supports 2 channels, which means it can control upto 2 light bulbs
- Supports pir sensor. So, motion can be used to trigger the lights.
- Fully integrated with SHARP
- SHARP integration makes automations seemless. Just set the time and never worry about turning the lights on again.
- It has several leds to show status of lights and the network connection.
- It also has a buzzer to provide audio feedback when the device is turned on. The buzzer can be used as an alarm as well.
- Supports Over the air updates for the firmware.
Note: The following demo videos were made back in 2020 with an older (open source) firmware. There has been a major overhaul in the firmware, with lots of new features and support for SHARP.
